M.A. Exclusive Patterns

The exclusive patterns of M.A. Woven Designs are developed through close collaboration with Indigenous weavers and artisans across the Philippines, grounded in dialogue, shared experimentation, and respect for regional weaving traditions. Each pattern is co-created—bridging ancestral techniques and contemporary design while honoring the cultural roots from which they emerge.

Beyond collaboration, these newly developed patterns are deeply personal to Maila Alog. Her day-to-day shapes them lived experiences—as an Indigenous Person (IP), a culture bearer, a public servant, and an advocate for community and cultural integrity. Elements of discipline, protection, resilience, care, and continuity—drawn from her profession, advocacies, and indigeneity—are translated into rhythm, structure, and form within each design.

Rather than replicating existing motifs, the patterns evolve through co-design processes where weavers actively contribute their techniques, interpretations, and cultural knowledge. Created with direct consent, proper attribution, and fair compensation, these exclusive designs serve not only as visual signatures of the brand, but as woven narratives—personal yet collective, contemporary yet ancestral—ensuring that Indigenous artistry is honored, protected, and allowed to evolve with dignity under the M.A. Woven Designs identity.

Ibaloy in Contemporary Colors

Ibaloy in Contemporary Colors is an exclusive design under M.A. Woven Designs that reinterprets Ibaloy identity through a modern palette while remaining rooted in ancestral sensibilities of balance and quiet strength. Developed in collaboration with Indigenous weavers and guided by Maila Alog, an Ibaloy culture bearer, the design reflects lived experience—service, advocacy, and everyday indigeneity. Contemporary colors become a bridge between memory and modern life, allowing tradition to evolve with dignity while honoring its origins.

Mandirigma

MANDIRIGMA is an exclusive pattern under M.A. Woven Designs, inspired by the disciplined color palette of the Battle Dress Uniform—earth, shadow, restraint, and resolve. Rooted in strength and protection, the design carries a deep personal connection to Maila Alog, whose life in uniform informs its structure, rhythm, and purpose.

Translating the language of service into woven form, MANDIRIGMA reflects courage, vigilance, and quiet sacrifice—values lived daily rather than merely symbolized. Developed through ethical collaboration with Indigenous weavers, the pattern bridges duty and identity, honoring both Indigenous artistry and the steadfast spirit of those who serve.

Lakan

LAKAN is an exclusive pattern of M.A. Woven Designs, inspired by the maroon and gold colors of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA)—a tribute to honor, leadership, and service. The design is deeply personal to Maila Alog, created in remembrance of her journey as a PNPA graduate, where the title “Lakan” signifies discipline, responsibility, and commitment to the nation.

Woven in collaboration with Indigenous artisans, LAKAN translates the values of courage, integrity, and excellence into textile form. The richness of maroon speaks of sacrifice and perseverance, while gold reflects dignity and purpose—together forming a pattern that honors both Indigenous craftsmanship and the enduring identity of those who have chosen to lead and serve.

Gamud

GAMUD is an exclusive pattern of M.A. Woven Designs, inspired by layered tones of purple and violet—colors long associated with intuition, protection, and unseen strength. Drawing from the idea of gamud not as harm, but as good, protective witchcraft, the design embodies intention, healing, and spiritual balance.

Co-created with Indigenous weavers, GAMUD translates inner power and ancestral wisdom into woven form. It is a pattern of quiet force—meant to guard, ground, and empower—honoring Indigenous belief systems where spirituality is protection, and strength is carried softly but with purpose.
