Community Building

Maila Alog’s community-building work centers on two core initiatives that reflect her commitment to culture, identity, and collective empowerment: Habing Katutubo Collective Inc. and Project Namnnamma. Through these movements, she strengthens Indigenous visibility, supports local livelihoods, and creates platforms where culture becomes active, living, and shared.

Habing Katutubo Collective Inc.

An Indigenous People–led movement for culture, livelihood, and identity.

Habing Katutubo Collective Inc. stands as Maila’s flagship cultural community—an ever-growing platform for weavers, artisans, designers, culture bearers, students, and advocates across the Philippines. Through annual showcases, weaving demonstrations, artisan bazaars, cultural talks, school engagements, and skill-sharing initiatives, the collective affirms Indigenous artistry not only as heritage but as a thriving economic and creative force.

At its heart, Habing Katutubo is community:
– uplifting traditional craftsmanship,
– strengthening small livelihoods,
– fostering inter-community collaboration, and
– reclaiming Indigenous identity in contemporary spaces.

It is a cultural home built by the people, for the people—where Indigenous stories are honored, protected, and proudly worn.

Project Namnamma

“Project Namnnamma” draws from the Ilocano term nannama, meaning belief, trust, and hope, and from the Cordilleran spirit of community generosity. This initiative focuses on creating meaningful support programs for marginalized groups—students, families, migrant workers, artisans, and Indigenous communities.

Through donation drives, community partnerships, Balik Eskwela efforts, livelihood support, and practical assistance programs, Project Namnnamma embodies the essence of shared responsibility and mutual upliftment. It reflects Maila’s belief that community building is an act of gratitude: a way of giving back to the land and the people who shape our stories.
