Baguio City — On June 22, 2019, the PFVR Gymnasium, Baguio City, became a hub of creativity, culture, and community engagement as Cosplay Saishū unfolded in celebration of the second anniversary of Carolina’s Dress Shop, while simultaneously hosting a meaningful Balik Eskwela Outreach Program.
Derived from the Japanese term saishū, meaning the ultimate or culminating moment, Cosplay Saishū was envisioned as a peak showcase of cosplay performance, costume craftsmanship, fashion presentation, and social responsibility. The event ran alongside a Market Expo from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, creating a full-day experience where commerce, creativity, and advocacy intersected seamlessly.
Program Highlights
The day opened with morning activities focused on creativity and service, including a Mini Shoot and Photobooth, the Balik Eskwela Outreach Program with volunteer cosplayers benefiting Kiweng Elementary School in Ambuklao, and the Craftsman Competition, which featured live presentations and open voting.
The afternoon program featured the In-House Competition, Dance Competition, CA Performances, and interactive raffles and mini games, maintaining strong audience engagement.
The event reached its peak in the evening segment with the Cosplay Runway, followed by Maila Alog Runway II, presenting two fashion collections: “Cordilita: Lolita in Cordilleran ‘Abel,” and “Disney Princesses Reimagined as Igorotas.” These runway presentations were directed by Jinky Dumapis, bringing narrative cohesion and visual clarity to the show.

Competitions and Recognitions
Cosplay Saishū featured both In-House and Craftsman categories, recognizing excellence in character portrayal, performance, and costume-making. Among the highlights of the competition were the Cosplay Winners, Miel Castulo and Julius Pawen, whose performances stood out for their creativity and execution. Entries for all competitions were officially accepted until June 16, 2019, encouraging broad participation from the cosplay community.
Collaboration and Outreach
The event was organized by Carolina’s Dress Shop, Tailoring & Tactical Supplies – Carol’s Love, and produced by Wilvy Shows Entertainment Production by Maila Alog. It was made possible through the cooperation of PNP Cordillera, Rotary Club of San Fernando, City of Baguio, United Korean Community Association, Northern Luzon Japanese Association, RMFB15, and Intemeratha Modeling Agency.

Professional photo and video documentation was provided by Paul M. Sajonas and Volts Gabrillo, with special recognition also given to Great 2B Cosplayer: Chairein Kris Cordoviz.
By uniting cosplay, fashion, Indigenous textile reinterpretation, market activity, and outreach, Cosplay Saishū demonstrated how creative platforms can reach their ultimate moment not only through spectacle, but through shared purpose and community impact.
Cosplay Saishū was powered by Wilvy Shows Entertainment Production.
