BAGUIO CITY — The Aurora Hill Police Station (PS6) marked a significant milestone on June 30, 2022 with the inauguration of its newly constructed Front Desk and Custodial Facility, celebrated through a traditional Ibaloy blessing ceremony. The event highlighted the strong partnership between law enforcement and the community, blending modern policing with the rich cultural heritage of the Cordillera.
The activity was hosted by Police Major Maila B. Alog, Station Commander of PS6, who welcomed PCOL Glenn Lonogan, City Director of the Baguio City Police Office, along with other guests and community partners.
Project Namnamma: Community-Powered Development
A notable highlight of the project was the contribution of Project Namnamma: Crowdfunding for Advocacies, which covered 50% of the total cost of the renovation. This demonstrated how community-driven initiatives and partnerships can directly support infrastructure development that benefits both the police force and the public.
The new facilities are expected to enhance frontline services, improve custodial conditions, and provide a more efficient and dignified environment for personnel and clients alike.
Honoring Ibaloy Traditions
The inauguration was made more meaningful through a traditional Ibaloy blessing, a customary practice intended to bring protection, harmony, and good fortune to the place and its users. Members of Onjon ni Ivadoy Inc., led by Edwin Bugnay, played a vital role in the ceremony by assisting native priest Mambunong Gaspar, who officiated the rites.
The ritual emphasized respect for indigenous knowledge systems and affirmed the station’s recognition of local customs as an integral part of community life in Baguio City.
Policing Rooted in Culture and Service
The ceremony underscored the Aurora Hill Police Station’s commitment to community-oriented policing—one that not only upholds law and order but also honors the cultural identity of the people it serves. By integrating indigenous traditions into institutional milestones, the station reinforced trust, mutual respect, and shared ownership between the police and the community.
With the inauguration of the new Front Desk and Custodial Facility, Aurora Hill Police Station PS6 takes a forward step in strengthening public service delivery—guided by modern standards, sustained by community support, and grounded in Cordilleran heritage.
