PLTCOL Maila Alog Receives Soroptimist International – Greater Manila District Congressional Award

Updated: Dec 28, 2025

Taguig City, Philippines — Police Lieutenant Colonel Maila Alog,  of the Philippine National Police Academy, was formally honored with the Congressional Award by Soroptimist International – Greater Manila District on November 30, 2025, during the awarding ceremonies held at the SMX Convention Center Aura.

The recognition celebrates PLTCOL ALOG's sustained and values-driven commitment to community service, women and child protection, institutional reform, and Indigenous Peoples’ advocacy, reflecting a career that bridges uniformed service with inclusive community development.

Service Beyond the Badge

The Congressional Award acknowledges PLTCOL ALOG's leadership across three key community initiatives, each grounded in responsiveness, dignity, and long-term impact:

Parasocial Service Orientation Seminar (2022)

This initiative oriented Baguio City Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) personnel and Barangay Women Representatives to function as Parasocial Workers, equipping them to assist WCPD and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in handling cases and conducting follow-ups during periods when social workers are unavailable. The program strengthened frontline response mechanisms for women and children in crisis.

Aurora Hill Police Station Improvements (2022)

Under her leadership, the Aurora Hill Police Station underwent critical improvements, including the reconstruction of the front desk, lock-up facility, and offices—particularly the Chief of Police (COP) office. The reorganization provided functional and dignified workspaces for personnel, with particular attention to the needs of the Intelligence Section, enhancing both efficiency and morale.

Habing Katutubo (2019–Present)

As founder and creative lead, LTCOL Alog has steered Habing Katutubo into a sustained platform promoting Indigenous knowledge, ethical representation, and cultural collaboration. The initiative serves as a vital meeting ground for culture bearers, artisans, weavers, designers, creatives, and product developers, fostering dialogue, livelihood opportunities, and respectful cultural exchange across regions.

A Shared Recognition

In her acceptance, Police Lieutenant Colonel Alog emphasized that the award reflects collective effort—from police personnel and barangay partners to Indigenous communities, volunteers, and creative collaborators—who have stood with her across years of service.

The Soroptimist International – Greater Manila District Congressional Award affirms a model of leadership that is inclusive, compassionate, and action-oriented, proving that public service can be both disciplined and deeply human.

“This recognition is a reminder that service, when rooted in dignity and shared purpose, creates ripples far beyond our immediate roles.”

The honor adds to LTCOL Alog’s growing body of work that continues to bridge law enforcement, social protection, and cultural advocacy—demonstrating that meaningful impact is built where service meets community.
