LAS CASAS FILIPINAS DE ACUZAR — Filipino heritage, fashion, and cultural pride beautifully converged during the recently concluded Grand Santacruzan held last May 23 at the historic Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, featuring the official candidates of Miss Philippines Earth 2026 together with Designers Circle PH.
Among the featured creations of the day was the masterpiece of Cordillera Indigenous fashion designer Maila Alog, an Ibaloy fashion designer and Head Designer of Baguio fashion house M.A. Woven Designs, known for championing Cordilleran heritage through contemporary fashion. Her design was proudly worn by Miss Earth Philippines – Bangued, Abra candidate Mavee Bayle as Reina de la Cultura Indigena, whose graceful presence highlighted both Indigenous artistry and modern Filipina elegance.
Mavee Bayle, who represents Bangued, Abra in the national pageant, has been recognized for advocating Indigenous Peoples’ stewardship of biodiversity and the preservation of sustainable cultural practices among the Tinggian community and other Indigenous groups.

Alog’s creation reflected the richness of Northern Philippine identity — blending traditional inspiration with refined couture craftsmanship. The ensemble embodied the essence of the Santacruzan: a celebration of faith, beauty, heritage, and Filipino artistry. Through intricate details and cultural storytelling woven into the garment, the design served as a tribute to the enduring legacy of Cordilleran weaving traditions and Indigenous creativity.
The Grand Santacruzan, mounted in collaboration with Designers Circle Philippines, transformed Las Casas into a grand showcase of Filipino culture and fashion excellence. Delegates paraded in regal ensembles inspired by traditional Filipiniana aesthetics, while designers from across the country highlighted the artistry and diversity of Philippine fashion.
For Maila Alog and M.A. Woven Designs, whose works continue to promote handwoven textiles and Indigenous craftsmanship, the event became another meaningful platform to elevate Igorot artistry on the national stage. Her participation further strengthens the growing presence of Cordilleran fashion in major pageantry and cultural showcases across the Philippines.
As the delegates of Miss Philippines Earth 2026 continue their journey toward the crown, the Grand Santacruzan stood as a reminder that fashion can serve not only as adornment, but also as a powerful expression of identity, heritage, and cultural pride.
