Baguio’s leading Indigenous fashion house, M.A. Woven Designs, brought Cordilleran handwoven fashion to Europe through a powerful fashion shoot set in Kassel, Germany, with official photos released on September 14, 2024. Framed by Kassel’s historic and contemporary urban landscapes, the shoot highlighted how Indigenous Filipino design can transcend borders while remaining deeply rooted in culture and identity.
Fronting the visual narrative were Miss Catherine and Stella, a striking mother-and-daughter model duo, whose presence embodied strength, continuity, and generational storytelling. Their pairing reflected the very essence of M.A. Woven Designs—heritage carried forward with confidence, pride, and purpose.
The collection featured contemporary silhouettes crafted from authentic Indigenous textiles, emphasizing structure, movement, and meaning. Each look carried stories of ancestry and craftsmanship, reimagined within a European setting without losing cultural integrity. The contrast between Cordilleran weaves and Kassel’s cityscape reinforced fashion as dialogue—between cultures, generations, and geographies.
The shoot was captured by Marc Drien, whose lens translated the power and elegance of the designs into compelling visual narratives. The project was realized in collaboration with Amy Balbawang, further strengthening the creative exchange between Filipino Indigenous fashion and the global stage.
Through this Kassel fashion shoot, M.A. Woven Designs reaffirmed its role in elevating Indigenous Filipino narratives worldwide—proving that handwoven fashion is not only wearable art, but a living tradition that continues to travel, evolve, and resonate across borders.
