Baguio Top Fashion House M.A. Woven Designs Joins Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar Flores de Mayo

BAGAC, BATAAN — On May 24, 2025, M.A. Woven Designs marked a distinct and meaningful presence at the Flores de Mayo celebration held at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, in collaboration with Designers Circle Philippines.

Among the participating designers, Head Designer Maila Alog—a proud member of Designers Circle Philippines—stood out as the only designer who presented creations made entirely from authentic Filipino Indigenous handwoven textiles. While other collections explored Filipiniana-inspired aesthetics, M.A. Woven Designs uniquely carried the voice of living Indigenous weaving traditions, bringing genuine habi sourced directly from weaving communities onto the heritage runway.

Set against the Spanish-era architecture of Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, the collection featured contemporary Filipiniana silhouettes that balanced structure and fluidity, allowing the handwoven textiles to take center stage. The designs were walked by candidates of Catwalk Philippines, whose poised runway presence amplified the cultural narrative embedded in each piece.

Maila Alog’s participation reaffirmed M.A. Woven Designs’ long-standing advocacy for ethical fashion, cultural integrity, and direct collaboration with Indigenous weavers nationwide. Each garment underscored the brand’s commitment to ensuring that tradition is not merely referenced, but authentically represented and sustained within contemporary Philippine fashion.

The Flores de Mayo fashion presentation became more than a visual spectacle—it evolved into a cultural statement. Through its collaboration with Designers Circle Philippines and Catwalk Philippines, and through Maila Alog’s exclusive use of Indigenous handwoven materials, M.A. Woven Designs reinforced its role as a cultural bearer on the national fashion stage, honoring faith, heritage, and Filipino artistry in its truest form.
