Baguio City, Philippines — Launched in 2020, the fashion label M.A. 79 has officially entered a new chapter with its renaming to M.A. Woven Designs at the end of 2025—a milestone that reflects the brand’s growth, refined identity, and deepened commitment to Filipino Indigenous artistry.

From its inception in 2020, M.A. 79 began as a personal design exploration rooted in storytelling, experimentation, and contemporary form. As the brand evolved, its creative direction increasingly centered on authentic handwoven textiles and Indigenous narratives. Years of immersion, learning, and collaboration with weavers naturally shaped this trajectory, making the transition to M.A. Woven Designs a deliberate and meaningful evolution rather than a rebranding for novelty.
Under the creative leadership of Maila Alog, Head Designer and founder, the brand expanded its scope—collaborating with wider Indigenous communities nationwide. These partnerships go beyond sourcing materials, focusing on the co-creation of original patterns, cultural consultation, and ethical production practices that honor the identity and knowledge systems of each weaving community involved.
By the end of 2025, the renaming formally affirmed what the brand had already become: one of Baguio City’s leading fashion houses specializing in handwoven tapestries. Recognized for its integrity, originality, and cultural grounding, M.A. Woven Designs stands firm in its advocacy for genuine Filipino habi—rejecting machine-made, printed, or foreign textile substitutes.
With this clarified identity, M.A. Woven Designs is now set to sail toward broader national and international collaborations, carrying woven stories from Indigenous communities across the Philippines to wider platforms. More than a change in name, the transition marks a strengthened vision—where fashion becomes a vessel for culture, collaboration, and continuity, rooted locally yet resonating globally.
