BAGUIO CITY — In line with the 27th Police Community Relations (PCR) Month 2022, the Aurora Hill Police Station successfully launched a Fun Run for a Cause dubbed “TA-RUN NA! Takbong Alay Aral” on July 9, 2022, from 5:00 AM to 8:30 AM, at Aurora Hill, Baguio City.
The initiative was headed by Police Major Maila B. Alog, Station Commander, in collaboration with the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) Aurora Hill Chapter, led by Ms. Elijah Jan Dumling, President, and the Station 6 Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development, chaired by Hon. Nicanor N. Nialla.
Strong Multi-Sector Participation
The activity gathered a total of 257 participants from various sectors, including residents of the different barangays of Aurora Hill, personnel from other police stations and units of the Baguio City Police Office, the Regional Police Community Affairs and Development Unit (RPCADU) Cordillera, Regional Medical and Dental Unit, PROCOR–PIO, Regional Special Training Unit, BCPO–Health Service, and the National Police Commission – Baguio, led by Soledad D. Benwaren, NAPOLCOM Inspector IV.
Earlier in the day, RPCADU Cordillera personnel also joined the run under the leadership of Police Major Rex Chiday, Assistant Chief, reinforcing the unified commitment of the police organization to community-centered initiatives.
A Run with a Clear Advocacy
Dubbed “TA-RUN NA! Takbong Alay Aral”, the activity carried the theme:“Supporting Balik Eskwela, Running Against Terrorism and Illegal Drugs.”
Beyond promoting health and wellness, the fun run served as a fundraising and awareness activity implemented under Project Namnamma, an initiative of the Aurora Hill Police Station in partnership with various advocacy support groups. The project aims to mobilize collective action and resources for education-focused programs.
Supporting Indigent Learners
Funds raised during the activity were intended to support indigent elementary students of Doña Aurora Elementary School, directly contributing to preparations for the Balik Eskwela Program scheduled for August 2022. This ensured that the initiative translated community participation into concrete educational assistance.
Culture, Service, and Community
As part of the 35th Cordillera Month celebration, the event concluded with a cultural dance presentation performed by personnel of the Aurora Hill Police Station—highlighting regional pride and the integration of culture into public service.
Purpose-Driven Policing
TA-RUN NA! Takbo Alay Aral exemplified the Philippine National Police’s continuing efforts to unite communities in government programs against illegal drugs, terrorism, and criminality, while advancing education as a cornerstone of peace and development. Through leadership, collaboration, and shared purpose, the simple act of running together became a meaningful stride toward a better future for Cordilleran learners.
